Beef Tacos (shredded beef)


500g cheap steak (blade, casserole, rump) (grass fed/organic preferred)

1 large onion

1 pkt taco seasoning


Taco Shells (or gluten free tortillas)

Tomato, lettuce or spinach, red onion, grated cheese to serve

Sour cream

Avocado (optional if in season)



Roughly chop onion.

Cut steak into large chunks and add to a saucepan with onion.

Add in taco seasoning and enough cold water to cover meat.

Bring to the boil.

Once boiling turn down heat to simmer for approximately 4 hrs stir occasionally to prevent beef sticking to the pan.

When cooked either mash with a fork or potato masher or pull apart using 2 forks.

Heat taco shells in oven following packet directions.

Slice red onion, tomato and avocado (if using) place on plate for centre serving with grated cheese.

When putting together tacos each person can add their own extras.

Extras: sour cream, taco sauce, chilli, etc
